Nano is a 400-square-foot mini-exhibition about nanoscale science, engineering, and technology. Hands-on exhibits present the basics of nanoscale science, introduce real world applications, and explore the societal and ethical implications of this new technology. Seventy copies of Nano were fabricated and distributed to museums across the United States.
I worked with the exhibits team at the Science Museum of Minnesota and the Sciencenter in Ithaca to design all of the graphics as well as design and prototype the hands-on interactive elements. Many of the graphics feature my own photography. Knowing Nano would be installed in many different locations and types of museums, we developed a design that was flexible and adaptable for different venues. The graphics are clean, concise, simple, and attractive, allowing Nano to fit in seamlessly with other exhibits at a variety of institutions targeted to different age groups, and with varied graphic treatments and color schemes.
